Everett’s Barnyard Birthday Bash!

March 9, 2017

Everett turned two at the end of February and I just couldn’t help myself. We had to celebrate! The kid is obsessed with all things animal-related and spent the last few months only wanting to sing Old MacDonald. So we ran with it!

Since I haven’t had a ton of energy lately, I tried to keep the party semi-low-key this year (as much as I could). I had some DIY projects that I had wanted to try but just ran out of time and energy. So instead I stuck with a few fun decorations + balloons, then used the cake table as the main focal point.

People are only there for the cake anyway, amiright?

We celebrated on a Saturday afternoon with about 35 close family + friends. Again, in an effort to keep things simple, we had our favorite local BBQ restaurant cater the food, which seemed to fit well with the barnyard/farm theme. They delivered and handled all the set up right before the party – doesn’t get much easier than that! The menu included pulled pork sliders, baked mac n cheese, cole slaw, potato salad and the most delicious cheesy biscuits around. I made sure there were lots of other snacks on hand to keep the farmers happy (animal crackers, Chex mix, milk for the littles and wine + beer for the adults).

All the littles got a farmer/cowboy hat to wear for the afternoon and take home, plus a barnyard-themed coloring book with crayons as the party favors. Overall, pretty easy to throw together!

A huge thank you to all of our family + friends that helped set-up, clean up and just spent the day celebrating our favorite dude. It warms my heart to see how much he is loved by everyone around him.

I’ve put together a little source guide below for all the products + goodies at the party, but let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks, Sheri! I don’t think I’m capable of a super simple cake and ice cream party for just family. Birthdays at least require a special cake! 🙂

No one’s going to judge me if I want that cake for my birthday party, right? Right.
