Throwback Thursday: Favorite Halloween Costumes

October 27, 2016

I love Halloween. Maybe it’s the way people don’t take themselves too seriously and just have fun…even if it’s only one night out of the year. Maybe it’s the creativity + competition. Maybe it’s the perfect fall weather, pumpkin patches + corn mazes.

And candy. We can’t forget about the candy.

Whatever it is, I’ve been enjoying every second of it!

With Halloween just a few days away, I thought we’d take a trip down memory lane today and feature some of my favorite costumes from the last few years. We are still putting on the finishing touches of this year’s costume and I can’t wait to unveil it soon! In the meantime, enjoy this blast from the past…

Halloween 2009:
German Oktoberfest Couple

Fun fact: Jeff’s lederhosen were borrowed from his dad, purchased in Germany over 30 years ago.

 Halloween 2011:
Audrey Hepburn + Indiana Jones

The Audrey costume was really easy to put together with items already in my closet. LBD, black sunglasses, pull hair back and pile on the pearls.

Halloween 2012:
Lucy + Ethel (Chocolate Factory Scene)

We made these costumes for our office costume contest and while we didn’t win, everyone loved it! We came in 2nd place!

Halloween 2014:
Bob Ross + Happy Little Tree (plus a little squirrel-to-be)

Jeff won 1st place at his office costume contest for this one. Big hit.

Halloween 2015:
Forrest Gump, Jenny + Lt. Dan

We won 1st place at Jeff’s office costume contest for our family costume. Admittedly, not exactly PC, but everyone loved it!

Can we make it a 3-peat of winning the costume contest this year? We’ll see on Friday! Which costume is your favorite? I’d love to see your all-time favorites!

Rachael

Never too late! I start brainstorming months and months in advance so I can keep my eyes open for anything that might work for our theme. I’m sure you could convince the hubby to dress up with you!

I love that one for friends to do together. We had fun making those costumes — we had pink dye all over my kitchen, but well worth it!

All looks gorgeous pictures. But my favorite is Octoberfest couple and Indiana Jones.
I love Halloween too and mostly I love more different costume than the scary look.

I’m with you… I don’t go for the scary ones, I like keeping it fun instead! Indiana Jones was one of Jeff’s favorite costumes too. 🙂

Thank you! We have a lot of fun with it and try to get creative instead of a bought costume from a store. I think it’s much more fun that way!
