Cold Weather Layering with Ann Taylor

January 6, 2019

After living in Denver the last 10 years, I’ve learned that you HAVE to invest in quality winter gear. However, don’t be mistaken — we don’t have 3 feet of snow on the ground all the time. We have beautiful 50 degree days all winter long, but temperatures have also been known to dip down to -15 degrees at night.

That means I’ve had to learn how to master the art of LAYERING.

That is one word you will hear from all Coloradans. You have to layer your clothes because sometimes you’ll see all four seasons in one day here (another Denver expression!). This means starting with a base layer that you’ll be comfortable in indoors, but then layering a vest, a light jacket, a heavier winter coat, hats, gloves, etc.

You just add layers or peel them off as needed.

I have partnered with Ann Taylor to show you some of my favorite ways to layer this winter but still look + feel pulled together. A special thank you goes to the awesome team at Ann Taylor Cherry Creek for helping me find these amazing pieces!

Black Velvet Moto Jacket

This Velvet Moto Jacket has turned into one of my staple pieces this winter. It features a classic motorcycle jacket style but with a luxe velvet twist. And you can’t miss the gold details which really take this jacket to a whole new level.

I have been wearing it on repeat for weeks now and receiving compliments every time I put it on. I think this is a must-have for your winter wardrobe!

Emerald Belted Wool Coat

The “Belted Chesterfield Coat” has to be my all-time favorite winter coat. I’m not even exaggerating. I’m in love with everything about it — the emerald color is so rich and just a beautiful pop of color in the cold winter months. The cut of the coat is so flattering, hitting in all the right places. And it’s WARM {which I suppose is the point of a wool coat ha!} but not itchy at all {a major issue for wool coats}.

This is another piece that I can put on and instantly feel put together. It looks great dressed up — I wore it over this lace dress to wear on a date night to The Nutcracker ballet. But I love that this coat equally looks amazing with a casual outfit of jeans + booties.

And in true Denver fashion, it’s all about layering when the temperature drops. Ann Taylor makes it so easy to be warm all winter long but still look amazing. They’ve been having amazing sales — currently it’s 60% off sale prices, so go check out these pieces.

One last bonus item to share with you — these booties! The Lesley Suede Block Heel Booties are so comfortable. The quality of these boots are incredible and I have no doubt that they’ll last a very long time, even if I continue to wear them every single day.

Ann Taylor doesn’t mess around when it comes to creating quality stylish pieces that you can wear everyday. The brand is so much more than just professional attire + suits. They create pieces that are meant to go from day to night and fit your everyday life. As a mom of two young kiddos, I appreciate how their clothes are effortlessly stylish AND functional for me. I think you’ll love them too!
